How it Works

1. Sign Up

Subports links your credit card to you mobile phone number. This allows you to make text-to-buy purchases virtually anywhere, on and off the web. You can sign up here.

2. Find Products

We work with great independent businesses. Products for sale by text message will have a product code in quotation marks. We refer to these product codes as “subcodes”. You can find these at shops and events, or on blogs and websites, or in print or mentioned by a friend.

3. Text to Buy

To purchase items, text the “subcode” to +1.646.434.0555. Items are shipped to the shipping address we have on file under your account. To edit your account, click the sign in button found at the top right corner at Subports.

4. Get Confirmation

Within seconds you will receive a text and an email confirmation for any purchase. If for some reason you are unhappy or change your mind about your order, we offer a quick way of cancelling.  Simply reply “NO” to +1.646.434.0555, and it will be cancelled immediately. The cancellation reply must be sent before the seller bills your item, which is when your credit card is charged.

Subports Vocabulary:

Subcode - a product code that when texted to our number +1.646.434.0555 we are able to determine what item you wish to buy.  An example is “Kioskcoin”

“?”- a subcode begining with a question mark is used for file sharing free information. This can be used by bands to share MP3′s and artists to share their portfolios by text message. Users and non-users of Subports can recieve free information using  the”? Try it now by texting “?CFCF” to +1.646.434.0555 to recieve an MP3 from RVNG recording artist CFCF.

“!” - an exclamation point is used to initiate charges immediately. This is used when a purchased item is not shipped, but taken from a point of sale such as at a trade show or shop.  Texting “NO” to +1.646.434.0555 to cancel an order is not applicable for these purchases. To return these items the customer must follow the associated seller’s refund policy.
